Lucknow, In a strategic move ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh unit of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has embarked on a massive initiative to create a ground-level force of two crore ‘NaMo volunteers.’ The primary focus of this endeavor is to engage with ‘labharthis’ (beneficiaries) and potential beneficiaries who represent the emerging voter class.

The ‘labharthi’ outreach, intensified after the BJP’s recent electoral successes, aims at achieving 100% coverage of various public welfare schemes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NaMo App will play a pivotal role in enlisting ‘labharthis’ and organizing the party’s digital volunteer force, according to party leaders.

The party conducted its first state-level workshop to train ‘Viksit Bharat ambassadors,’ who will essentially serve as the BJP’s digital volunteers. Notable leaders, including UP BJP Chief Bhupendra Chaudhary and General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, participated in the workshop.

During the workshop, Kuldeep Chahal, the central convener of NaMo App, and National Secretary Shailesh Pandey presented the app’s functionalities. The state BJP chief announced the ambitious goal of adding two crore volunteers to the NaMo App, designating them as ‘Viksit Bharat ambassadors.’ These ambassadors will play a crucial role in the party’s mission to ensure comprehensive coverage of public welfare schemes.

The workshop emphasized that all party cadres must download the NaMo App on their smartphones. Subsequently, they are expected to facilitate app installations on as many devices as possible. The party plans to organize district-level workshops between December 15 and 17, followed by a series of activities aimed at voter engagement. These include the “100-day challenge,” a microdonation campaign, and initiatives like ‘selfie with first-time voters’ and ‘selfie with farmers,’ all to be documented on the NaMo App.
