Perth, In a disappointing display of fielding, Pakistan faced several missed catches during Day 1 of the first Test match against Australia. Notably, opener David Warner benefited from Khurram Shahzad’s dropped catch and survived a stumping chance.

However, it was Abdullah Shafique’s blunder that garnered significant online attention. Shafique missed a straightforward catch to dismiss Usman Khawaja, allowing the ball to slip through his hands and roll to the boundary for a four.

Social media users responded swiftly with a series of humorous reactions to the incident.

Veteran batsman David Warner showcased his prowess by scoring a resilient 164 runs, steering Australia to a strong position at 346-5 against the inconsistent Pakistani bowling attack. Warner’s innings featured 16 fours and four sixes, silencing critics who had questioned his recent form.

At stumps, Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten on 15, and Alex Carey notched up 14 runs. Despite glimpses of brilliance from the Pakistani bowlers, the team faces a challenging task, aiming for their first Test series win in Australia since 1995.

Warner, who announced his retirement from Test cricket, responded emphatically to criticism about his recent form. “People make comments, but you get on with it. You have to just go out there and score runs, and today I did that,” Warner stated.

The match witnessed intense moments, with Warner’s century and Pakistan’s attempt to regain control. As the Test series unfolds, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await more thrilling moments on the field.
