Mumbai:In a delightful exchange at the launch of her latest book, “Welcome To Paradise,” Twinkle Khanna, accompanied by husband Akshay Kumar, showcased her trademark wit.

The event, hosted at Mumbai’s Taj Lands End, saw Akshay Kumar posing a candid question to Twinkle about the relevance of men in her predominantly women-centric stories. Akshay queried, “All the main characters are women. So, are men irrelevant?” Twinkle, with a smile, playfully referred to men as “dessert,” saying, “No, you need dessert, right? To be happy. So, men are important for us to enjoy ourselves and indulge.”

Adding depth to her response, Twinkle shared personal insights, stating, “A lot of what I could do, including going to study, wouldn’t have been possible without his support.” She elaborated on her experience of relocating to London for a Masters in Fiction Writing while her husband played a crucial role in supporting her endeavors.

The star-studded book launch event, attended by luminaries such as Karan Johar alongside Akshay Kumar, showcased “Welcome To Paradise” as a collection of women-centric stories, exploring themes of love, marriage, and loneliness.

While the audience applauded Twinkle’s humor, a moment on Instagram saw an individual questioning her choice of describing men as “dessert.” Twinkle responded with a witty retort, “You can’t, but you can blame centuries of patriarchy for your current predicament. Humor is always about punching up and not down.”
