Pune: The newly constructed terminal at Pune Airport is poised for inauguration pending approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Once operations transition to the new terminal, the existing terminal will undergo renovation. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) anticipates a six-week period for testing and inspection before the shift to the new terminal.

A senior official from Pune airport mentioned that the central ministry’s approval is awaited, and after inauguration, a thorough six-week testing phase will commence. The tests will involve system checks, approvals from regulatory agencies, and the active participation of equipment suppliers, including international contributors.

Despite some delays and rescheduling of completion deadlines, the new terminal is designed to accommodate 12 million passengers, addressing the current terminal’s limitations of serving 7.1 million passengers annually. The renovation of the existing terminal will commence after its evacuation post-inauguration.
