In a pioneering move, the Education Ministry is set to unveil ‘IKS Wiki,’ an online repository dedicated to authentic information on India’s traditional knowledge and culture. Ganti S Murthy, the National Coordinator of the Indian Knowledge Systems division, announced the initiative, emphasizing its goal to make Bharatiya gyan parampara (Indian knowledge systems) globally accessible.

The IKS Wiki aims to serve as a comprehensive library, welcoming contributions from students through an internship program. Murthy highlighted the importance of providing information in simplified language, catering to a broad audience. The repository will feature articles in multiple Indian languages and English.

The Indian Knowledge Systems division, established in 2020, has initiated an internship program encouraging students to contribute to IKS Wiki’s development. During the internship, students can contribute artwork, including pictures, sketches, and multimedia, prioritizing “oral traditions of Bharat.” The focus is on topics systematized through oral traditions, manuscripts, texts, and traditional practices over millennia.

“This internship program is designed to encourage and enthuse youth to take up deeper study of various topics related to IKS. IKS Wiki must be an important tool for it,” stated the official document. Interns will receive ₹1,000 per accepted article, and the initiative strictly accepts topics rooted in traditional Indian knowledge.

The last date for internship applications is December 25, with the announcement of selected candidates on January 5.
