In a notable moment during the Winter Session of Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hema Malini invoked a popular Bollywood dialogue to commend Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Quoting a line from Akshay Kumar’s movie “Rowdy Rathore,” Malini said, “Amit Shah ji jo kehte hain woh karte hain lekin joh nahi kehte hain, zaroor karte hain (Amit Shah does what he says, and definitely does what he does not say).”

Malini highlighted Shah’s commitment to justice and welfare, particularly emphasizing his recent presentation of three revised criminal bills in the Lok Sabha. The bills, named Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill (BSB), were passed in the Lok Sabha after being presented last week.

Addressing the significance of these bills, Malini expressed her views on the need for updated laws in New India, stating that the centuries-old laws crafted during British colonial rule were no longer relevant. She applauded Shah’s efforts in working towards a developed and crime-free Bharat.

Furthermore, Malini drew attention to outdated laws concerning cruelty to animals and advocated for the replacement of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act with new legislation. BJP MP Poonam Mahajan joined in supporting stricter laws against crimes involving animals and voiced concerns over animal abuse.

The bills were passed in the absence of 97 Opposition MPs, who were suspended due to misconduct and unruly behavior. These legislative changes will replace the Indian Penal Code-1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure Act-1898, and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872.
