In a vibrant celebration of Tamil language and culture, the first contingent of 216 tourists from the “Kashi Tamil Sangamam-2” program embarked on a journey to Prayagraj. Welcomed by the district administration, these tourists, part of a broader initiative fostering “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” were treated to the cultural and religious richness of Prayagraj.

The festivities commenced with the inauguration of the second edition of “Kashi Tamil Sangamam” at Namo Ghat in Varanasi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The tour, organized to showcase the diversity of Indian culture, has visitors exploring various religious and cultural landmarks across the state.

Upon their arrival in Prayagraj, the tourists were greeted with a warm welcome from the district administration, marked by flower showers and the ceremonial worship of ‘Ma Tamil.’ District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal and other officials received the guests, setting the stage for cultural performances and songs by school children.

The highlight of the visit was the exploration of the sacred Sangam area, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers converge. In well-equipped boats, the “Kashi-Tamil Sangamam” team experienced the awe-inspiring confluence, accompanied by insights into the significance of “Tirtharaja Prayagraj” from Tamil tourist guides.

Captivated by the breathtaking view, the visitors engaged in capturing the moment at designated selfie points on VIP Ghat. Fine Arts students from Allahabad University contributed to the cultural experience by crafting beautiful sand art reflecting the essence of “Kashi Tamil Culture.”

District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal honored the guests with mementos and ‘angvastrams,’ symbolizing the cultural exchange between Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

The tour continued with visits to Bade Hanuman Temple, Swami Narayan Temple, and Chandrashekhar Azad Park. As the first group concludes their exploration, anticipation builds for subsequent batches scheduled to arrive in Prayagraj on December 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31.

This cultural exchange initiative not only embodies the spirit of unity in diversity but also serves as a testament to the rich tapestry of traditions woven across the length and breadth of India.
