The Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya, constructed by the government-owned Airports Authority of India at a cost of ₹350 crore, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. The airport, equipped to handle 500 domestic passengers during peak hours and over four million flyers annually, boasts a runway suitable for Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft. Officials noted the potential for future expansion to accommodate wider aircraft.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the redeveloped railway station in Ayodhya. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued an aerodrome license for the airport, classifying it for public use under all weather conditions.

The airport features nine check-in counters, three conveyor belts, 75 car parking slots, and two slots for buses. An anonymous government official emphasized the design’s focus on passenger convenience and reduced mobility.

Several domestic airlines have announced non-stop flights from Ayodhya to major cities, with Air India Express and IndiGo leading the way. International flights may be introduced in subsequent phases.
