In an unprecedented episode of Koffee With Karan, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore and her son, Saif Ali Khan, took to the couch, offering a glimpse into Saif’s childhood, bratty teenage years, and addressing his first marriage with actor Amrita Singh.

During the lively chat, Saif recounted the moment he broke the news of his marriage to Amrita Singh to his mother. Sharmila, who was in Mumbai to meet him, reacted with tears, expressing that he had truly hurt her. Saif emphasized the importance of sharing every aspect of life with parents, acknowledging that Sharmila was hurt by his impulsive decision to marry against her advice.

When the topic shifted to Saif’s separation from Amrita, he revealed that Sharmila was the first person he confided in, and she expressed her support for his decision. Sharmila, however, acknowledged the challenging and “not so harmonious” time that followed the split. She explained that breakups are especially difficult when there are children involved and described it as a period of hurt for everyone. Sharmila expressed her efforts to navigate through the tough times, acknowledging that Amrita needed time to cool down.

Saif, now happily married to Kareena Kapoor Khan with two sons, Taimur and Jeh, emphasized that the family went through a challenging phase, losing not only Amrita but also Saif and Sharmila’s kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.

The conversation on Koffee With Karan provided a rare and intimate look into the personal life of Saif Ali Khan, with Sharmila Tagore adding her perspective to the stories that unfolded.
