In a significant political development, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress, has unveiled a bold strategy for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a rally in Chakla, West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee asserted that the INDIA alliance, led by her, will be in contention for every constituency across the nation. Her statement comes as a direct challenge to the BJP, as she criticized them for lacking a clear agenda, effective leadership, and a strategic approach.

During the rally, Mamata Banerjee underscored her government’s commitment to social welfare measures, highlighting the provision of five kilograms of rice to the underprivileged—an initiative she claimed the BJP merely echoed during their election campaigns.

Despite facing a halt in funds from the central government, Mamata Banerjee proudly declared that her government ensured the continuity of the MGNREGA scheme for 45 days, aiming to provide a source of income for the people.

In her address, Mamata Banerjee touched upon various welfare schemes implemented since her government assumed power in 2021. She mentioned the distribution of free ration, Swastha Sathi card, and Laxmir Bhandar. Additionally, she emphasized educational benefits such as Sabuj Sathi cycles for students in Class 9 and smartphones for those in Class 12. The Chief Minister further detailed financial assistance initiatives, including the allocation of ₹25,000 to unmarried women, irrespective of their religious or community affiliations, under the Kanyashree scheme.

Encouraging Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers to actively engage with the public, Mamata Banerjee reiterated the importance of prioritizing people’s welfare over personal interests. Her rallying cry emphasized the commitment of the TMC to serve the citizens rather than focusing on self-serving agendas.

As Mamata Banerjee positions the INDIA alliance for an extensive electoral presence, her announcement sets the stage for a heightened political contest in the lead-up to the much-anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
