In a move to counter soaring inflation, the Indian government has prolonged the exemption on import duty for tur and urad dal until March 31, 2025. This decision, announced by the Director General of Foreign Trade, follows a recent extension of the import duty exemption on masur dal to the same date.
The exemption, initially implemented in October 2021, aims to stabilize the prices of essential commodities like pulses, given the recorded 20 percent inflation rate on pulses in November.
