Bajaj Auto has recently submitted a trademark application for the name ‘Vector’ in India, sparking speculations about a potential electric scooter launch under its Chetak brand. While filing a trademark doesn’t confirm a production-ready model, industry enthusiasts believe it could indicate the development of a sportier variant for the Chetak EV.

In 2020, Bajaj introduced its subsidiary, Chetak Technologies, dedicated to electric two-wheelers. The filing of the ‘Vector’ trademark suggests a possible expansion of the Chetak EV lineup. Interestingly, a few years ago, the Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna revealed the ‘Vektorr’ EV concept, rumored to be based on the Chetak EV. The scooter was even spotted testing on Indian roads alongside other Chetak e-scooters. Bajaj holds a 48 percent stake in KTM AG, the parent company of Husqvarna.

While these connections fuel speculations, the actual nature of the ‘Vector’ model remains uncertain. Bajaj’s current EV portfolio includes the Chetak Premium and the recently launched Chetak Urbane. Although both models share similarities, the Urbane offers additional features like hill hold, reverse mode, smartphone connectivity, tamper alerts, and a 10kmph boost in top speed compared to the base variant.

The Chetak Premium is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Urbane comes with a price tag of Rs 1.15 lakh, ex-showroom.
