Nawada City, Bihar: The absence of a halt for the JasiDeeh-Pune Express, a weekly train passing through Nawada, has been causing distress to residents. Approximately 500 passengers from across the district book tickets for this train each week, requiring them to travel to either Kiul or Gaya to catch it. Despite the train passing through Nawada station, it does not make a stop, creating inconvenience for commuters.

The operation of this train commenced almost two years ago, generating excitement in the city as it offered a direct connection to Mumbai and Pune. However, disappointment arose when the train was not given a stop at Kiul-Gaya Rail Corridor. The demand for a halt has been consistently voiced by citizens, with Member of Parliament Chandan Kumar assuring multiple times. In contrast, the Gonda-Delhi Express, operating weekly for Delhi, stops in Nawada, but the Pune Express lacks a stop in the city.

The absence of a halt affects not only local residents but also the numerous individuals from rural areas who travel to Mumbai for livelihood. Jain devotees also find Nawada significant due to the Digambar Jain Temple, a revered site associated with Lord Mahavir and Gautam Ganadhara. Nawada serves as a crucial transit point for those visiting Rajgir, a popular tourist destination.

Voices from the City:

Gyan Prakash Arya, Resident of Ramnagar: “If the Pune Express could have a halt in Nawada, it would be a significant convenience for us. I often travel between Patna and here, and having a direct connection would save time.”

Rajeshwar Prasad Rajesh, President, Chamber of Commerce: “People here are engaged in business activities, and many travel to Mumbai for work. Our leaders need to come forward and advocate for a halt for this train. I have also submitted a written application to railway authorities.”

Gaurav Kumar, City Resident: “Nawada residents do travel to Mumbai and Pune, and a halt for the Pune Express is essential. Our leaders should prioritize this issue for the benefit of the community.”

Vijay Jain, Shopkeeper: “I have written several applications to railway officials, including the Rail Minister, highlighting the need for a halt for the Pune Express. It’s time for action.”

Brajesh Rai, President, Drug Wholesalers Association:”Despite reaching out to high-ranking officials, including the Rail Minister, no progress has been made. The Pune Express should definitely have a halt in Nawada.”

CCCTC Response:

Neeraj Kumar, Senior CCCTC Executive, Nawada: “The JasiDeeh-Pune Express sees approximately 500 reservations each week, and all these passengers are allocated tickets from Gaya or Kiul due to the absence of a halt at Nawada station.”

In the face of mounting demands from residents and various associations, the question remains: will the Pune Express finally make a stop in Nawada? The community continues to hope for a positive resolution to their travel woes.
