In a disheartening turn of events, Team India faced a resounding defeat at the hands of a formidable South African side in the Boxing Day Test at Centurion. The match concluded in just three days, with India succumbing by an innings and 32 runs.

Despite the team’s collapse, Captain Virat Kohli stood out with a commendable innings of 76 runs before becoming the final wicket. Rohit Sharma, acknowledging Kohli’s valiant effort, was seen offering applause and a supportive pat on the back as the disappointed Kohli headed back to the dressing room.

India’s aspirations to conquer the ‘final frontier’ were dashed with this heavy defeat, giving South Africa an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-Test series. The second and final Test is scheduled to commence on January 3 in Cape Town.
