In a bid to address unemployment, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has declared plans for a state-level job fair in Bengaluru during the last week of January. The Chief Minister, chairing a preliminary meeting, directed the formation of a ministerial team comprising Industry Minister MB Patil, IT, BT, and Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge, among others. This team is tasked with effectively organizing the job fair and engaging with employers across various sectors. Siddaramaiah emphasized the fair’s commitment, outlined in the election manifesto, and urged the group to formulate long-term programs bridging the skills gap between job seekers and industry needs.

During the meeting, Industry Minister MB Patil, IT, BT, and Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge, Skill Development and Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, Higher Education Minister MC. Sudhakar, Youth Empowerment and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister B Nagendra, Labour Minister Santosh Lad, and Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao were identified as key members of this team.

This ministerial group is tasked with engaging with employers from diverse sectors, encouraging their active participation in the job fair. The Chief Minister emphasized that the fair, a promise from the election manifesto, aims to be a pivotal platform connecting job seekers with employment opportunities.

Furthermore, Siddaramaiah instructed the group to collaborate with industries, making recommendations for long-term programs that address the prevailing gap between the skills of job seekers and the requirements of industries. Additionally, he urged the team to explore job opportunities abroad and initiate the groundwork for a comprehensive employment policy to enhance opportunities for the state’s youth.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Home Minister G Parameshwar, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Govindaraju, and other high-ranking officials were present during the meeting.
