In a historic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, marking Phase 1 of this state-of-the-art facility. Developed at a cost exceeding ₹1,450 crore, the airport’s terminal building spans 6,500 sqm and is designed to serve approximately 10 lakh passengers annually.

Featuring architecture inspired by the upcoming Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, the facade of the terminal building mirrors the city’s rich heritage. The interiors are adorned with local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Lord Ram. Sustainability takes center stage with features like insulated roofing, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant, securing a GRIHA 5-star rating.

This visionary project aims to enhance connectivity, boosting tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in the region. PM Modi’s commitment to developing modern infrastructure aligns with his vision for Ayodhya’s growth while respecting its historical significance.

In the second phase, the airport is set to host international flights with an expanded runway, marking a pivotal moment in Ayodhya’s global connectivity.
