As India faces the second Test against South Africa, Bharat Arun reminisces about Ravi Shastri’s pivotal advice from the 2018 Cape Town Test, urging bowlers to prioritize discipline.

In a recent interview with RevSportz, Arun commended Kagiso Rabada’s performance in the Centurion game and urged Indian bowlers to emulate his precision, targeting the 4-6 meter mark. Despite India’s loss in the first Test, Arun expressed admiration for Jasprit Bumrah’s return to red-ball cricket in SuperSport Park.

Arun emphasized the need for disciplined bowling, highlighting Rabada’s pitch map and Bumrah’s standout performance. He critiqued the lines of other fast bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and debutant Prasidh Krishna, pointing out issues with width and length.

Recalling Shastri’s words after the 2018 Cape Town Test, Arun quoted, “I want you guys to leave the driving licence at home. Unless you have something specific, attack them all the time.” This advice marked the beginning of a bowling revolution, leading to a remarkable series win in Australia in 2020/21.

As the second Test in Cape Town approaches, Arun underlines the importance of discipline for a potential series-saving performance. Will India rebound from the Centurion setback? Cricket enthusiasts await the outcome with bated breath.
