Mumbai, In an unexpected turn of events, crucial areas in Mumbai, including Malabar Hill, Dadar, Lower Parel, Kurla, and Powai, are set to experience disruptions in water supply from January 4-5. The civic authorities attribute this inconvenience to a observed leakage in the 900mm cross-connection between Upper Vaitarna and Vaitarna main near Powai.

Efforts to repair the leakage have proven challenging, necessitating the isolation of Vaitarna mains from Equalisation point Bhandup Complex to Maroshi Tunnel for the repair work. The proposed repair duration is set from 10 am on Thursday, January 4, to 10 am on Friday, January 5, lasting for 24 hours.

Affected areas encompass all zones in A ward fed from Malabar Hill reservoir and Azad Maidan reservoir, anticipating a 10% reduction in water supply. Additionally, parts of L ward, including Upper Tunga, Lower Tunga, Marva, Raheja Vihar, and others, will face water supply interruptions.

In S ward, areas like Mhada Jalvayu Vihar, Rane Society, Hiranandani Powai, Panchkutir, and more are expected to receive no water supply between 12 noon to 4 pm on January 4-5.

The inconvenience is expected to impact several parts of the city, with residents urged to make necessary arrangements during this period. The BMC officials assure that efforts are being made to minimize the disruption and complete the repairs efficiently.
