In a significant development, four agricultural properties situated in Khed taluka, Ratnagiri district, associated with the family of fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim’s mother, Amina Bi, are slated for auction on Friday. These properties, located in Khed’s Mumbake village, hold historical significance as Dawood and his siblings spent part of their childhood there.

The auction, scheduled to take place in Mumbai, is under the purview of the competent authority and administrator of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, commonly known as Safema, falling under the Union Ministry of Finance. Over the past nine years, Safema authorities have successfully auctioned 11 properties belonging to Dawood or his family.

The four properties listed for auction have a combined reserve price of Rs 19.2 lakh. Each property is being auctioned through three modes: e-auction, public auction, and tender in a sealed envelope, all conducted simultaneously. The first property, covering an area of 10,420.5 sq m, has a reserve price of Rs 9.4 lakh; the second, spanning 8,953 sq m, has a reserve price of Rs 8 lakh; the third, approximately 171 sq m, comes with a reserve price of Rs 15,440, and the fourth, with an area of 1,730 sq m, has a reserve price of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Authorities had confiscated these properties years ago, and the responsibility of transferring the property to the successful bidder’s name lies with the buyer. Bidders are required to submit earnest money deposits for each auction mode, and the deadline for the submission of the ‘participation form’ is Wednesday.

This development follows recent reports claiming Dawood Ibrahim had been allegedly poisoned in Pakistan, which was later denied by his close aide Chhota Shakeel. In 2017, Safema had successfully auctioned several properties belonging to Dawood, including Hotel Raunk Afroz, Shabnam Guest House, and six rooms in Damarwala building near Bhendi Bazaar, fetching a total of Rs 11 crore.
