Lucknow,  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts isolated rains in parts of southern Uttar Pradesh and districts bordering Madhya Pradesh on January 3 and 4. A subsequent drop in minimum temperatures from January 5 may lead to cold wave conditions in certain areas.

Mohd Danish, in charge of the IMD office in Lucknow, stated, “There is a possibility that districts like Jhansi, Banda, Orai, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Varanasi, Chandauli, and nearby areas may experience some rain in the next 48 hours.”

After the anticipated rain, minimum temperatures in parts of UP may slightly decrease from January 5, continuing for a few days. On Tuesday, Meerut recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 6.4 degrees Celsius, Aligarh at 7.2, Lucknow at 8.4, Sultanpur at 9, and Gorakhpur at 9.4 degrees Celsius.

The state experienced dense to very dense fog on Tuesday, with visibility in various districts significantly reduced. The IMD has also issued warnings of dense to very dense fog in several parts of UP.
