In a bid to encourage citizens to prioritize their health and fitness, the state has inaugurated a subsidized gym, named ‘New My Gym,’ in Dubagga. The initiative comes shortly after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of physical fitness during the recent women’s half-marathon.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore, who also organized the half-marathon, highlighted the need for adopting a healthy lifestyle and provided insights into various fitness activities like walking, jogging, yoga, and gym exercises.

The Youth Welfare Department is spearheading the establishment of gyms and sports grounds in 100 gram panchayats and zones under the ‘Khoob Khelo Khoob Badho’ initiative. The newly opened gym in Dubagga spans 2,500 square feet, equipped with 30 pieces of exercise equipment, including cardio and strength-building workstations. Additionally, the facility offers provisions for weight management through Zumba and aerobics sessions.

Mohammad Javed, the gym manager, mentioned that the subsidized membership options provided by the district administration include ₹3,500 for three months, ₹6,000 for six months, and ₹9,000 for a year. More attractive schemes are expected to be introduced as the gym attracts more memberships.
