Hyderabad, In a strategic move, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy released the second list of 24 candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections, dropping 10 sitting MLAs. This decision comes after a thorough assessment of candidates’ winning prospects, aiming to strengthen the party’s position for a second successive term.

The changes include shifting sitting MLAs to different constituencies and denying tickets to several key members. Notably, 13 sitting MLAs have been denied tickets out of the 35 candidates finalized for the assembly elections. The YSRCP, holding 151 MLAs in the 175-member assembly, emphasizes its commitment to securing victory in the upcoming polls.

Among the prominent names denied tickets are Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Tippala Nagi Reddy, and Gudivada Amarnath. The reshuffling also involves accommodating family members and shifting MPs to assembly constituencies. This political maneuver has stirred reactions within the party, with some leaders exploring alternative options.

The YSRCP leadership remains undeterred, stating that candidate selection prioritizes the party’s overall interests. Despite internal shifts, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s focus on retaining power in Andhra Pradesh remains steadfast.
