In a proactive move against unauthorized constructions, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) executed an anti-encroachment demolition drive in Burari, freeing up approximately 1.5 acres of land. The operation targeted agricultural land where unauthorized constructions were identified, with plans to extend such demolitions across various zones throughout the month.

The MCD officials, supported by the police force, carried out the peaceful drive with a focus on eliminating illegal construction activities. A total of 52 locations have been earmarked for upcoming demolition drives in the ongoing crackdown.

Detailing the recent operation in Pradhan Enclave of Burari, MCD officials, accompanied by earthmovers, razed newly constructed brick walls. This follows a demolition carried out in the same vicinity about 15 days earlier.

The civic body emphasized its unwavering stance against unauthorized construction and highlighted the constant vigilance maintained over areas prone to such activities. The MCD’s dedication to eradicating illegal structures is reflected in recent statistics, where, in the past three months, 989 demolitions have been conducted, 322 properties sealed, and 68 prosecution actions initiated, along with complaints lodged with the police.

While the construction and demolition ban in November delayed the drive, December witnessed several demolition operations targeting previously identified areas. The MCD, through public notices, has urged the public to refrain from unauthorized construction activities, cautioning against the pitfalls of investing in illegally constructed properties.
