NEW DELHI |In a historic moment for Indian cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 12-year-old prodigy from Bihar, made headlines with his debut in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. The young sensation, hailing from Bihar, etched his name in the record books as one of the youngest debutants in India’s first-class cricket, surpassing the early milestones set by legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh.

Vaibhav marked his debut in a Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna, joining the ranks of 38 teams competing in 19 matches across various venues in the country.

If Vaibhav’s age claim stands true, he would be younger than both Yuvraj Singh, who made his maiden first-class appearance at 15 years and 57 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted at 15 years and 230 days.

The young batter had previously showcased his talent representing the India B U19 team in a Quadrangular Under-19 series last year, accumulating 177 runs in six innings, including two half-centuries.

Vaibhav’s impressive performance extended to the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he finished as the eighth-highest run-scorer with 393 runs and an outstanding average of 78.60. The tally included one century and three half-centuries.

In a recent interview, Vaibhav shared that he began his cricket journey at the age of nine, receiving early guidance from his father. Known for his proficiency in the pull shot, the young cricketer is now making waves on the domestic circuit.

The debut of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has ignited excitement among cricket enthusiasts, eagerly anticipating the young talent’s journey in the prestigious Ranji Trophy.
