In a strategic move to capitalize on Lakshadweep’s emerging tourist potential, Tata Group’s Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has unveiled plans to introduce two luxurious Taj-branded resorts on the islands of Suheli and Kadmat by 2026. The picturesque Lakshadweep archipelago, comprising 36 islands, recently garnered attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted its natural beauty, sparking comparisons with the Maldives.
IHCL, a subsidiary of Tata Group, considers these Greenfield projects as a gateway to catering to the escalating tourist interest in the region. Lakshadweep, celebrated for its unspoiled beaches and vibrant coral reefs, presents an enticing proposition for travelers seeking a harmonious blend of international luxury and untouched natural landscapes.
The Taj Resort at Suheli is meticulously designed to feature 110 rooms, including 60 beach villas and 50 water villas, promising a world-class hospitality experience. Similarly, the Taj Hotel at Kadmat, with 110 rooms comprising 75 beach villas and 35 water villas, strategically positions itself in a marine protected area known for its seagrass beds.
The archipelago, situated in the Arabian Sea, boasts an array of tourist attractions, including Bangaram, Agatti, Minicoy, and Kavaratti. Recognized for its scenic beauty, coral reefs, and various water sports offerings such as scuba diving and windsurfing, Lakshadweep is poised to become a sought-after destination.
