New Delhi, In commemoration of India’s landmark 75th Republic Day, the nation is gearing up for a majestic display that seamlessly blends military might with cultural diversity and unique initiatives. As the clock ticks down to the grand celebration, President Droupadi Murmu is set to lead the festivities from Kartavya Path in the national capital, with the distinguished presence of French President Emanuel Macron as the Chief Guest.
Diverse Contingents and Global Ties
Maj Yashdeep Ahlawat is entrusted with leading the first contingent, donned in the uniform of the 61 Cavalry, a unique distinction as the only active Horse Cavalry Regiment globally. This year’s parade, set to commence with a French band and marching contingent, serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring ties between India and France.
Military Prowess on Display
Highlighting India’s military capabilities, the parade lineup features an array of formidable assets. Tank T-90 BHISHMA, led by Lt Fayz Singh Dhillon, takes center stage with its 3rd generation Russian Main Battle Tank armed with a 125mm smooth bore gun. The Nag Missile System (NAMIS), under the command of Capt Abhay Pandit, showcases an indigenously designed tank destroyer boasting the capability to fire six ‘Nag’ Anti-Tank Guided Missiles.
The mechanized column of Infantry Combat Vehicle BMP-2 /2K of GUARDS Regiment, led by Lt Shivam Singh, brings a high mobility Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) with potent armament and state-of-the-art night fighting capabilities. Additionally, the Pinaka Multiple Launcher Rocket System of the Regiment of Artillery from 1890 Rocket Regiment, led by Lt Priyanka Sevda, adds a powerful artillery component to the parade.
Engineering Marvels and Technological Dominance
The Sarvatra Mobile Bridging System of the Corps of Engineers, commanded by Capt Suman Singh, stands as a “Made in India” specialized equipment employed by Engineer units for bridging over dry and wet gaps. Meanwhile, the Drone Jammer System and Advance Radio Frequency Monitoring System of the Corps of Signals, led by Lt Col Ankita Chauhan, showcase India’s prowess in technological domains, specifically in countering drone threats.
