Republic Day: 66 CRPF officials to be conferred with Gallantry medals

New Delhi, On the occasion of Republic Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) emerges as a beacon of valor, with 66 officials set to be honored with prestigious Gallantry Medals. This remarkable feat represents the largest number of Gallantry Medals conferred among all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

The commendations include 1 Shaurya Chakra and 65 Medals for Gallantry, showcasing the unwavering commitment and exceptional courage displayed by these warriors in the line of duty.

Exceptional Acts of Bravery

Assistant Commandant Bibhor Kumar Singh, a Shaurya Chakra Awardee, exhibited extraordinary courage during an anti-Maoist operation in the Chhakarbandha forest area of Aurangabad, Bihar. Despite sustaining severe injuries in an IED blast triggered by Naxals, Singh displayed indomitable valor. He provided cover fire, supporting his troop’s advancement, ultimately leading to the retreat of Naxals from the ambush site.

Posthumous Honors

Four gallant warriors, including Ct/GD Dharm Dev Kumar, Ct/GD Sakhamuri Muralikrishna, Ct/GD Routhu Jagadish, and Ct/GD Samaiya Madvi, are posthumously awarded the Medal for Gallantry. These troopers made the supreme sacrifice while neutralizing Maoists in Chhattisgarh, demonstrating remarkable bravery and professionalism during a fierce six-hour encounter.

Medal for Gallantry Awardees

In an operation in Vill Badigam, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, Sh. Ajay Singh Parmar, 2 IC, and Ct/GD Jyoti Das courageously engaged and neutralized terrorists attempting to escape. Additionally, Ct/GD Apurba Gogoi displayed valor in neutralizing a fleeing terrorist during a CASO.

The CRPF, being the largest paramilitary force in the country, not only marks this Republic Day with Gallantry Medals but also received 5 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 57 Medals for Meritorious Service.

As the nation honors the commitment and sacrifices of these brave warriors, their unwavering pledge to serve the nation with reinvigorated zeal is celebrated.
