Mumbai, In a landmark development, the state government of Maharashtra has finalized seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) amounting to ₹2,76,300 crore for ambitious green hydrogen projects. These strategic collaborations, involving key players like NTPC Green Energy Limited, JSW Energy Limited, AVAADA Green Hydrogen Private Limited, among others, aim to generate 910 KTPA of green energy, with a potential employment boost of 63,900 jobs, as highlighted by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Notably, the MoUs extend to various companies, signifying a broad spectrum of partnerships in the green energy sector. The state’s commitment to a sustainable future is evident in the positive responses received from seven leading companies.

In addition to these green initiatives, an MoU was formalized with Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel for a ₹40,000 crore investment in a cutting-edge Green Steel Plant. This ambitious project is projected to create 20,000 job opportunities, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as a leader in both economic and environmental sustainability. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized the significance of this endeavor, underlining its connection to iron mines and MIDC.

The discussions leading to these agreements originated during industrialist Laxmi Mittal’s visit to Davos, where he expressed his desire to forge more collaborations with the state. Maharashtra, with its robust infrastructure, has positioned itself as an attractive destination for significant investments, having already signed MoUs worth ₹3.53 lakh crore during the World Economic Forum at Davos.

This strategic move underscores Maharashtra’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and resilient future, blending economic prosperity with environmental consciousness.
