Bihar’s Jamui district to host three-day bird festival; chief minister Nitish Kumar to inaugurate

Jamui, In the Nagi and Nakati Bird Sanctuary of Bihar’s Jamui district, a three-day state-level bird festival is scheduled from February 10 to 12. The official inauguration is expected to be carried out by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This festival aims to gather bird enthusiasts as well as bird specialists from both national and international domains. In addition to the festivities, the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has dispatched a team of bikers from Patna to Nagi and Nakati to provide information to the general public about bird conservation and increasing their numbers. Local authorities are also actively participating in spreading awareness about the protection of various bird species and their benefits to the environment.

Festival Highlights: Various Stalls, Cycling Rally, Quiz, and More

According to information, the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change is organizing the bird festival, featuring various stalls providing details on the diet and behavior of different bird species. Additionally, activities such as a cycling rally and quiz are planned for the event. The festival aims to involve local bird enthusiasts and conservationists.

Birds from 136 Species Spotted in 2021 Festival

In the 2021 Bird Festival held at the Nagi and Nakati Bird Sanctuary, approximately 136 species of birds were observed. The festival showcased birds from Eurasia, Central Asia, the Arctic Circle, Russia, and Northern China, among other regions. Around 1,600 bar-headed geese, also known as great white swans, were spotted during this festival.

International Bird Conference in Patna from February 5 to 7

Just before this bird festival, a three-day international conference based on birds is scheduled at Hotel Maurya in the capital city of Patna from February 5 to 7. The conference is expected to witness the participation of leading bird experts and environmental specialists worldwide. The purpose of the conference is to share information about endangered bird species globally and discuss various points related to the migration of birds from one country to another. If everything goes as planned, a common proposal will be prepared and submitted to the governments of different countries through various diplomatic channels.
