The Bihar government has secured approximately one acre of land from the Mumbai Port Trust for the upcoming Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai, with the registry expected to be completed next month. The state government has already made a full payment of around 200 crores to the Port Trust for this purpose. The responsibility of overseeing the registry process has been entrusted to Cabinet Secretary Dr. S. Siddharth. Alongside the registry, construction of a 10-story Bihar Bhavan, estimated at a cost of 10 crores, is set to commence.

Affordable Accommodation for Medical Treatment and More

The Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai aims to provide affordable accommodation for people from Bihar seeking cancer treatment in the city. Additionally, students coming for exams and government officials on official business in Mumbai will also find reasonably priced accommodation. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s initiative has secured this valuable land in Mumbai, situated near the recently inaugurated new bridge by the Prime Minister.

Land Obtained through Nitish Kumar’s Initiative

Devesh Chandra Thakur, the President of the Bihar Legislative Council, revealed that the Bihar Foundation had been striving for nearly 20 years to acquire this land. The initiative gained momentum during the tenure of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Thakur expressed gratitude, especially to Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for his pivotal role. Others acknowledged for their contributions include former Union Minister S.K. Shinde, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra’s IAS officers, Mumbai Port Trust Chairman Rajiv Jalota, Bihar cadre IAS officer Aadesh Titirmare, and former Bihar IRS officer Ravi Shankar Srivastava.

Documenting the Land Transaction

Thakur extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support in this noble endeavor. He shared a photo on social media standing on the allocated land owned by the Mumbai Port Trust, emphasizing the significance of this occasion for the people of Bihar. The Bihar Bhavan’s construction will bring relief to those traveling to Mumbai for cancer treatment, who previously faced challenges in finding affordable accommodation near hospitals.

Benefits for the Needy

Thakur emphasized that the establishment of Bihar Bhavan would greatly benefit those in need. Individuals such as Qaisar Khalid, the IPS officer of Bihar Foundation and Mumbai cadre, and Foundation Secretary Ranveer, along with numerous residents of Mumbai, have contributed their efforts to make this project a reality.
