The construction work on the new rail line between Jatdumri and Daniyawan, spanning approximately 24 kilometers, is nearly 60% complete. The remaining work is expected to be expedited, with hopes that trains will start running on this new line within a year. The prolonged dispute between local farmers in the Narayanpur village and the railway regarding compensation has finally been resolved, with the railway conceding to the demands of the farmers.
The Chief Security Commissioner (CSC) of Railways, Suvojit Mitra, is set to inspect the route on February 8th. After the inspection by the Railway Protection Force, the construction work is expected to progress rapidly. Once operational, trains from Patna to Gaya will now run via the newly established line, branching off from Jatdumri on the Patna-Gaya line, passing through Bihar Sharif.
The benefits of this new rail line include relieving pressure on the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction-Howrah mainline and potentially increasing the speed of trains. It will enhance connectivity for areas such as Neura, Daniyawan, Bihar Sharif, Rajgir, Gaya, Nawada, Barbigha, Sheikhpura, and Kiul.
Additionally, trains can run directly from Ara or DDU Junction to Bihar Sharif or Rajgir, facilitating the operation of MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger or intercity trains. If there are any issues on the mainline between Patna and Kiul, trains can be diverted through this route.
The Jatdumri junction is currently under construction, with a halt, building, high-level platform, and foot overbridge in progress. The surfacing work is already 75% complete.
The construction of the Neura-Daniyawan rail line is being carried out in two phases, with one section from Neura to Jatdumri covering 18 kilometers and the other section from Jatdumri to Daniyawan spanning 24 kilometers. Significant progress, approximately 85%, has been made between Neura and Jatdumri.
