In a significant announcement during a program, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented nationwide before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, expected to take place in April and May. Shah emphasized that CAA aims solely to grant citizenship to religious minorities facing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, dispelling concerns about revoking anyone’s citizenship. Taking a swipe at the Congress party, he asserted that the oldest political party in the country had initially promised this initiative.

Addressing the removal of Article 370, Shah stated that the BJP’s decision to abrogate it would result in the party winning on 370 seats, expressing confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure over 400 seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Shah dismissed any doubts about the election results, suggesting that even Congress and its allies have realized their impending defeat and will find themselves in opposition once again.

Hinting at the inclusion of more parties in the NDA before the elections, Amit Shah expressed confidence in family planning but remarked that it is not adopted in politics. Criticizing Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ he argued that Congress was responsible for the partition of India in 1947. Regarding the Ram Temple, Shah mentioned that political appeasement and references to law and order prevented its construction.
