The recent buzz in political circles revolves around Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who has been actively involved in discussions amid the political corridors. His recent praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration ceremony has drawn attention. Krishnam, who crticised Congress for turned down Ram Lalla temple inauguration invitation, emphasized that the program was about the consecration of the Ram Mandir, not a party affair. Following this, he extended an invitation to PM Modi for an event after meeting him. However, it’s now reported that the oldest party in the country, under Mallikarjun Kharge’s leadership, has expelled Acharya Pramod Krishnam for six years.
Acharya Pramod Krishnam expressed his reaction on social media, stating that compromises cannot be made on matters related to Ram and the nation. He tagged former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in his post, sparking a continuous stream of user reactions.
Acharya Pramod Krishnam contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Lucknow but faced defeat, securing 1.8 lakh votes. In 2014, he contested from Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, with a similar outcome. Krishnam was previously associated with Congress as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Advisory Council, formed to assist Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in her role as the party’s UP in-charge. There are speculations that his dissatisfaction might lead to him being fielded as a candidate in the upcoming elections for Sambhal and Lucknow constituencies.
The reasons behind Congress showing Acharya Pramod Krishnam the exit haven’t been explicitly stated. Krishnam recently attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony in Kalkidham, Sambhal, where he invited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Prior to this, he had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, laying the groundwork for future engagements.
As per Congress Secretary K.C. Venugopal, the decision to expel Pramod Krishnam for six years was based on his repeated anti-party statements and allegations of indiscipline. Notably, Krishnam had criticized Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and targeted the Indian National Congress alliance on multiple occasions.
