In a recent development during a Bihar Education Department meeting, Vice-Chancellors (VC) were notably absent, prompting officials from KK Pathak’s office to inquire about the reasons behind their non-participation. The Registrar, in response, skillfully diverted attention over the phone by invoking the Minister’s name.

The Education Department’s meeting had become a point of contention between the Raj Bhavan and the Education Department. Ultimately, the Vice-Chancellors adhered to the directives of the Governor-cum-Chancellor, choosing not to attend the meeting. Only three representatives from two universities participated in the Wednesday meeting. The Education Department had issued warnings to Vice-Chancellors regarding their mandatory participation, emphasizing the necessity through written communication. However, the Vice-Chancellors failed to attend the meeting, leading the Education Department to make inquiries via phone regarding their absence.

Phone Call from Education Department, Registrar Questioned About the Reason

Following the Wednesday meeting of the Education Department, where Vice-Chancellors were notably absent, Prof. Jawahar Lal, the Vice-Chancellor of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, and Registrar Dr. Vikas Chandra were questioned about their non-participation. Deputy Director Deepak Kumar Singh from the Education Department contacted the Registrar over the phone, seeking an explanation for their absence. The Registrar informed the Education Department officials that he would provide details after discussing the matter with the Vice-Chancellor. Subsequently, the Registrar spoke with the Vice-Chancellor and conveyed that the Education Department sought an explanation for their non-participation.

Registrar’s Remarks About the Education Minister

The Registrar, during the conversation, mentioned that the Education Minister had announced in the legislative assembly that the meeting scheduled for February 28th would be postponed. This information was obtained from newspapers. Due to this announcement, doubts arose, leading to Vice-Chancellors’ inability to attend the Education Department’s meeting.

Was the Information Already Provided?

Sources indicate that Secretaries of Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, Purnea University, and Tilka Manjhi University had already communicated to the Higher Education Directorate in writing, stating their inability to attend the meeting due to various reasons. Some universities also sent essential information about their respective examination sessions to the department.

Now, a Deepening Grasp on the Training Program

It is noteworthy that the Education Department has scheduled a training program on March 2nd and 3rd for Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, and other officials. However, the Chancellor has directed Vice-Chancellors not to participate in this two-day seminar. Considering the current circumstances, the likelihood of Vice-Chancellors participating in this training program also appears diminished.”
