In a significant development, a purported video of the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, one of India’s most-wanted Khalistani extremists, has surfaced. CBS News reported that the footage, claiming to depict Nijjar’s murder, has gone viral. According to CBS News, the video was obtained from ‘The Fifth Estate,’ and its authenticity has been verified by multiple sources.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, labeled as a terrorist by India in 2020, was reportedly shot outside a Gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on the evening of June 18, 2023. The video allegedly shows Nijjar leaving the Gurudwara’s parking lot in his gray Dodge Ram pickup truck. A white sedan is seen driving on the adjacent road, which stops in front of Nijjar as he prepares to exit. Following this, two individuals rush towards the truck, fatally shooting Nijjar before fleeing in a silver Toyota Camry.

The incident had led to heightened tensions between Canada and India, with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holding India responsible for the assassination. In response, India strongly reacted to the accusations. Hardeep Singh Nijjar, declared a terrorist by India, had sought refuge in Canada following the charges.
