As the Lok Sabha Election 2024 approaches, several political parties, including BJP and Congress, have already disclosed their candidate lists. While BJP unveiled its initial list comprising 195 candidates, sources indicate that the party is gearing up to release a second list soon. The BJP Central Election Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss and finalize the upcoming list.
The BJP CEC meeting, expected to take place around 6 PM on Monday, will likely focus on deliberations regarding the second list of candidates. Prior to this, the BJP core group had a late-night meeting on Saturday. The Election Committee previously met on March 2 to strategize and scrutinize potential candidates before releasing the first list.
The BJP Central Election Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and including key figures like BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s candidate lineup.
In the first list, BJP announced candidates for 195 constituencies across 16 states and two union territories. Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan were among the states with significant candidate allocations. BJP has maintained a blend of experienced incumbents and fresh faces, with 34 current MPs making way for new entrants.
As the party prepares to unveil the second list, the focus remains on reinforcing BJP’s strong presence and strategic positioning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
