Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has granted relief to Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers in Ranchi. The court has halted the issuance of notices by the Ranchi police to ED officials. A case under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was filed against these officers by former CM Hemant Soren. In light of this, Ranchi police had sent notices to ED officials. However, the High Court has now blocked the issuance of these notices.

Case Registered at SC/ST Police Station in Ranchi

Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has filed a complaint against top officials of the Enforcement Directorate, including Deputy Director Kapil Raj, Assistant Director Devvrat Jha, Anupam Kumar, and Aman Patel, among others, at the SC/ST police station in Ranchi.

High Court Blocks Ranchi Police’s Notice Issuance to ED Officers

Following the registration of the case against ED officers at the SC/ST police station in Ranchi, SI Deepak Kumar Ray has been entrusted with the investigation. In response, the ED officers knocked on the doors of the Jharkhand High Court. After the hearing, the High Court has blocked the Ranchi police from issuing notices to the ED officers.

What Hemant Soren Said in the Complaint

Former CM Hemant Soren, in the filed complaint (SC/ST case), stated that he learned through media reports on January 30, 2024, that a BMW car of blue color and cash were seized from his residence in Shanti Niketan, Delhi. He clarified that the seized car and cash do not belong to him. He alleged that such actions by ED officers (who do not belong to tribal communities) were undertaken to defame him and his family, possibly to subject them to a sentence of seven years or more. He and his family have been mentally harassed by the actions of the Enforcement Directorate officials.”
