Patna, In response to the scorching heat, electricity consumption in the state has been crossing 7000 MW almost daily. On Thursday, daytime electricity demand was recorded at 5500 to 6000 MW, surging to 7200 MW during peak hours. This increased demand is straining the state’s substations and feeders, which are struggling to cope. To manage the load, rotational electricity outages are being implemented.

Complaints have been pouring in regarding issues such as burning jumpers and the failure of distribution transformers, all attributed to the heightened load. Fuse call complaints have also surged, now occurring three to four times more frequently. Consequently, resolving these complaints is taking significantly longer.

From the capital city of Patna to rural areas, power companies are striving to maintain a steady supply of electricity. Load shedding is being employed to distribute the available electricity across all districts. This measure has led to power cuts of three to four hours in rural areas. Although load shedding is less frequent in urban areas, including Patna, technical issues have made life difficult for residents. Power cuts lasting several hours are common due to various technical problems. Electrical engineers are increasingly concerned as the pressure mounts.
