Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey extended a warm welcome to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, upon their arrival at Palam Airport for the 18th G20 Summit. The minister cordially greeted them with a traditional “Jai Siya Ram” salutation.
In a gracious gesture, Ashwini Kumar Choubey presented Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty with symbolic tokens of Indian spirituality, including a Rudraksh bead, a copy of the Bhagavad Geeta, and the Hanuman Chalisa.
As Rishi Sunak embarked on his journey to India, he expressed the significance of this visit, humorously acknowledging his unique role as the first British Prime Minister of Indian descent. He is married to Akshata Murty, the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
In anticipation of the G20 Summit, Rishi Sunak shared his priorities, focusing on stabilizing the global economy, nurturing international relationships, and providing support to vulnerable populations.
Rishi Sunak’s itinerary in India also includes a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day visit.
The 18th G20 Summit is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 10 at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event is anticipated to draw participation from over 30 heads of state, as well as senior officials from the European Union, invited guest nations, and 14 leaders of international organizations.
