In an endeavor to illuminate India’s pioneering strides in agricultural research and technology, the Union agriculture ministry is set to host a distinctive two-day visit to the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) situated in Pusa, New Delhi. This unique occasion, slated for September 9-10, will be graced by the presence of spouses of G20 leaders.

The visit is meticulously crafted to shine a spotlight on India’s impressive achievements in the realm of agricultural research and technology.

During their visit, attendees will have the privilege of touring millet fields, affording them a firsthand view of the agricultural landscape. Additionally, an enlightening exhibition will be featured, focusing on the burgeoning agri-tech startup ecosystem. These startups are committed to delivering innovative technological solutions aimed at surmounting real-world agricultural challenges. The exhibition will also present a culinary segment showcasing delectable millet-based dishes representative of each of the G20 member nations.

Moreover, the event offers a platform for members of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) hailing from diverse tribal communities across India. These dedicated individuals will showcase food products crafted from millets, products that have been successfully marketed throughout the country.

The government’s dedication to Research & Development (R&D) excellence will be prominently on display through presentations by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). These presentations will delve into the latest frontiers of precision farming, agricultural technology, and mechanization, all contributing to the advancement of the agricultural sector.

A unique facet of the exhibition will involve interactions with women leaders deeply entrenched in the millet value chain. These remarkable women hail from diverse regions of India, representing various aspects of the millet journey – from farming to processing and entrepreneurship.

It is noteworthy that these women farmers originate from ten states that are at the forefront of millet production: Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Assam. These states have diligently embarked on comprehensive plans designed to stimulate the cultivation, processing, marketing, and consumption of millets.

As India spearheads efforts to augment its agricultural prowess, this event serves as a testament to the nation’s commitment to innovation and sustainable agricultural practices.
