In a recent address at the Baba Abhaynath Dham premises during Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in Nalanda’s Hilsa sub-division, Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar ignited a fiery debate with his statement that Prophet Muhammad was a ‘Maryada Purushottam.’ The comments have ruffled feathers and raised eyebrows across the nation.
Chandrashekhar expressed concerns about the increasing malevolence and dishonesty in the world, emphasizing the need for honesty. He asserted that “to bring honesty in the region of central Asia, the god had sent Maryada Purusotam Mohammad Saheb on the earth.”
Adding a controversial twist to his discourse, Chandrashekhar also remarked on Lord Ram, stating, “Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram was not pleased with the caste structure. So he took a pair berry of Mata Sabri and ate to give the message that castes do not matter. I am painfully saying that we are not endorsing the conduct that Lord Ram has shown.”
These statements have drawn strong reactions from various quarters. BJP OBC Morcha National General Secretary Nikhil Anand accused Chandrashekhar of demeaning the sanctity of Lord Krishna during a Janmashtami program. Anand stated, “Whatever the Education Minister Chandrashekhar is commenting against Hindu-Sanatan Dharma and using derogatory language for Lord Sri Ram and Lord Sri Krishna, it reflects the mentality of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Chandrashekhar’s statement during the Janmashtami program will trigger controversy…”
Anand further alleged that the opposition alliance is running a campaign to insult Hindu Sanatan Dharma and cater to their vote bank with pro-Islamic and pro-Pakistan notions. He claimed that Chandrashekhar’s comments have insulted both Hindu Sanatan Dharma and the Yadav community.
The controversy has deepened the political divide, with Nikhil Anand suggesting that if Chandrashekhar is so averse to Hindu Sanatan Dharma, he should embrace a different path. “If Chandrashekhar is so averse to Hindu Sanatan Dharma and cannot see the existence of Lord Sri Krishna in comparison to the existence of Mohammed Saheb, then he should wear a ‘Maulana’ cap, offer Namaz, get circumcised, and go to Pakistan,” Anand added.
These provocative statements have ignited a fierce debate on religious sentiments, with the ripple effects of this controversy likely to be felt for some time to come.
