Colombo – In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Super Four clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, India’s vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, sheds light on the immense workload that comes with being an all-rounder. As the cricketing world eagerly awaits this showdown, Pandya reveals the meticulous preparation and self-belief required for success.

Pandya, known for his dynamic skills with both bat and ball, emphasized the unique challenges faced by all-rounders in cricket. He stated, “As an all-rounder, my workload is twice or thrice as anyone else’s. While a batter may finish his innings and head back, I may still be on the field, delivering my overs. The groundwork, preparation, and conditioning all happen before the game. During the match, it’s about assessing what the team needs and making practical decisions regarding my overs.”

The cricketer’s approach is grounded in adaptability. He explained, “If the team requires 10 overs from me, I’ll deliver them. But if 10 overs aren’t needed, there’s no point in pushing myself to bowl 10. I’ve always believed in giving myself a chance to succeed by reading the game and backing my abilities. When I’m out there, even though I have my team by my side, I also recognize that I’m alone.”

Pandya acknowledged the pressure he faces from opponents, stating, “When I’m bowling, the opposition wants me to make a mistake. As a batsman, I have a partner, but there are eleven fielders against me. It’s crucial to back myself completely, even in the face of challenging situations. No matter what happens, you have to believe that you’re the best in the world. While it doesn’t guarantee success, it guides you on the path to it.”

In addition to his role in the Asia Cup, Pandya has assumed the position of vice-captain for Team India in the upcoming ODI World Cup, underlining his growing stature in the cricketing world.

As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the India-Pakistan clash, it’s clear that Hardik Pandya’s unwavering self-belief and adaptability will be assets to watch out for on the field.
