PATNA: In a recent decision, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and the Bihar Education Department have jointly decided to withhold the results of the teacher recruitment examination for B.Ed pass candidates. The eligibility criteria for the 1.7 lakh teaching positions in the Bihar government have been revised to require candidates to hold a Diploma in Elementary Education (D El Ed) instead of a B.Ed. The BPSC is expected to issue a recruitment notification for D El Ed pass candidates in October, with a substantial number of teaching positions available for classes six to eight. The results of the recent examination are anticipated to be announced between September 18-25.

The dream of aspiring B.Ed candidates to secure government teaching positions may face delays as BPSC and Bihar Education Department revise eligibility criteria for teacher recruitment.

Approximately 3.9 lakh B.Ed pass candidates had applied for positions in primary-level classes (1 to 5) during the teacher recruitment examination held from August 24-26. Only those possessing a Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) will be considered for the 1.7 lakh teaching posts within the Bihar government.

A meeting held in Patna on Tuesday, involving BPSC Chairman Atul Prasad and State Education Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pathak, resulted in the unanimous decision to withhold the results for B.Ed pass candidates. It is expected that the BPSC will initiate the recruitment of D El Ed pass candidates in the second phase, with a notification anticipated in the first week of October. This recruitment phase is expected to include a significant number of teaching positions for classes six to eight.

The results of the recently concluded examination are projected to be released between September 18-25.
