The forthcoming joint sitting at the newly inaugurated Parliament building promises to be a momentous occasion as several veteran Members of Parliament are set to deliver speeches during this historic event. As the special session of Parliament transitions to the state-of-the-art premises, the joint sitting on Tuesday will feature noteworthy addresses from former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP Member of Parliament Maneka Gandhi, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Shibu Soren. Each speaker will have five minutes to express their insights and perspectives.

Notably, these three parliamentarians hold the distinction of being the longest-serving members in their respective houses. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the most senior member of the Rajya Sabha, while BJP MP Maneka Gandhi boasts the longest tenure in the Lok Sabha. Shibu Soren, on the other hand, has served as a Member of Parliament for the greatest duration across both houses.

The list of prominent speakers for the joint sitting includes other distinguished figures such as Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

The emotional transition to the new Parliament building commenced on Monday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his gratitude and admiration for the vision of previous Prime Ministers. PM Modi, in his address, reminisced about his initial entry into the existing Parliament building and emphasized the bittersweet emotions associated with bidding farewell to it.

Furthermore, during the first day of the special session, discussions centered around the evolution of parliamentary democracy over the past 75 years. Following this, PM Modi chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet within the Parliament Annexe building, where important matters, including the Women Reservation Bill, were deliberated.

As the nation eagerly awaits the joint sitting in the new Parliament building, this historic event signifies a moment of transition and reflection on the rich democratic legacy of India.
