New Delhi – In a significant development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has been apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case. This arrest follows an earlier raid conducted at Singh’s residence by the agency.

This marks the second high-profile arrest in this case, as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was previously detained in connection with the same investigation.

The ED’s prosecution complaint from last year, filed in December, had mentioned Sanjay Singh’s name. The complaint included a statement from businessman Dinesh Arora, who asserted that he initially encountered AAP leader Sanjay Singh, subsequently leading to his meeting with Sisodia during a restaurant gathering. Arora claimed that, upon Singh’s request, he facilitated cheques amounting to Rs 82 lakh for the collection of party funds intended for the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. Furthermore, Arora’s statement indicated that he had conversed with Sisodia on multiple occasions and had even met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence in the company of Sanjay Singh.

Following a search at Singh’s residence in the New Delhi district, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal criticized the ED’s actions, describing them as a “desperate attempt by a party on the verge of defeat” in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for next year. Kejriwal emphasized that despite multiple raids conducted by the ED in the past year, no incriminating evidence has been discovered.
