In a video clip that has swiftly gained traction on social media, an ambulance transporting a critically ill child was forcibly halted for approximately an hour to accommodate the passage of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s motorcade. The incident, which unfolded on Friday, has elicited a strong public reaction.

According to reports, the ambulance was en route to Patna to secure urgent medical attention for the ailing child when it was intercepted by police personnel stationed on the Fatuha-Daniawan National Highway, near a railway overbridge. The purpose was to clear the way for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s convoy, as he was returning to Patna after inaugurating an ethanol plant in Nalanda.

The viral video captures the agonizing sight of a distressed woman cradling her ailing infant within the ambulance, which was en route from Fatuha.

“The child is unwell, and we urgently need to admit him to a hospital in Patna. However, the traffic has come to a standstill,” lamented another woman seated beside the child’s mother, fearing the potential dire consequences of the delay.

The ambulance driver, speaking to local media, revealed that the patient had remained ensnared in traffic for a full hour, and their pleas for passage, even after explaining the deteriorating condition of the child, fell on deaf ears.

The incident has provoked strong reactions from netizens, with many expressing their indignation over the situation. Comments such as “Shame on such politicians” and calls for abolishing protocols for politicians have flooded social media platforms. The incident has prompted a broader discussion on the need for sensitive and humane treatment in circumstances involving medical emergencies and the movement of political dignitaries.

In conclusion, the incident involving the ambulance’s prolonged delay underscores the importance of preserving swift access to medical care during emergencies and highlights the imperative for a balanced approach to road protocols, particularly when lives are at stake.
