In a recent development, the Bihar Education Department has revoked its order issued on February 28, which had imposed an immediate halt on the salaries of university vice-chancellors, registrars, and exam controllers, along with freezing their bank accounts. The order came into effect immediately upon issuance.

The Education Department had earlier summoned a meeting on March 9, where university officials were expected to report on the delayed examinations and assess the status of ongoing exams. The meeting will be chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department and is scheduled to take place in the department’s auditorium.

Previously, the Education Department had issued an order to suspend salaries and freeze bank transactions for vice-chancellors, registrars, and other officials across all state universities in a meeting held on February 28. The meeting had been called to address concerns related to pending examinations. Notably, none of the vice-chancellors attended the meeting, leading to discontent within the department.

Following the dissatisfaction, the Education Department had directed the suspension of salaries for university officials and imposed restrictions on bank transactions for all university accounts. The recent order comes after the department had temporarily halted payments to retired teachers and non-teaching staff of the universities, causing apprehensions about pension and salary disbursements.

With the latest directive from the Education Department, relief has been provided in these matters, alleviating concerns about the potential impact on the developmental activities of the universities.”
