Patna: The sweltering heat in Bihar shows no signs of relief currently. The temperature is expected to rise further in many districts of Bihar, accompanied by scorching hot winds. The IMD has already issued warnings in this regard. It’s noteworthy that the mercury has crossed the 42-degree mark, fluctuating between 41 to 42 degrees Celsius, causing discomfort to the general public. In 19 districts including Sheikhpura, the Meteorological Department has also issued a severe heatwave yellow alert. People are urged to venture out only for essential tasks. Special attention is advised for children.

Sun Scorches from Above: On Wednesday, the sun blazed relentlessly throughout the day, while people struggled under the scorching earth. In areas like Purnia, the temperature crossed 41 degrees Celsius by noon, with hot winds intensifying the sun’s heat. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has also expressed concerns about the heatwave continuing in Purnia on Thursday. Tuesday wasn’t much cooler either, but Wednesday’s heat left people restless. Weather experts predict a heatwave on the day of the elections, April 26, with temperatures potentially crossing 41 degrees. During this time, not only will there be a wave of heat but also hot winds blowing at speeds of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour.

Campaigning Amidst Looming Heat in Purnia: Amidst the intense heat, campaigning continued unabated in Purnia. With the maximum temperature soaring above 41 degrees, both commoners and leaders alike faced discomfort. As the day progressed, silence gripped the markets and streets, with people staying indoors. It’s worth mentioning that leaders, candidates, and party workers were visible on the streets regarding the elections. Fans and coolers worked overtime in homes. Meanwhile, continuous alerts are being issued by the IMD.

Sheikhpura Records Highest Temperature:* Sheikhpura remained the hottest place in the state for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius here. The minimum temperature of the district was also recorded at 24.01 degrees Celsius. Amidst gusts of hot winds, life in the district is completely engulfed in the grip of a scorching heatwave. During noon, both urban and rural areas of the district were completely deserted. People venturing out are being cautious. For the first time, the district administration attempted to provide weather information through the media regarding this changing trend in weather. The Information and Public Relations Department of the district has issued continuous alerts regarding the severe heatwave. People are advised to remain cautious in the coming days amidst the heatwave’s fury.
