In the second wave of candidate announcements for the upcoming assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strategically fielded three Union ministers, augmenting its bid for electoral success. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Minister of State for Food Processing, Prahlad Patel, have been chosen to contest from Dimani and Narsinghpur, respectively, according to the list unveiled on Monday.

This calculated move to nominate senior leaders who serve as ministers in the Union council of ministers and experienced lawmakers is a strategic maneuver by the party high command to bolster the BJP’s prospects in the forthcoming elections. Minister of State for Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste, has been nominated to contest from Niwas, a seat reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

Furthermore, several Members of Parliament, including Ganesh Singh, Rakesh Singh, Riti Pathak, and National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, have also been granted tickets to participate in the electoral race. Uday Pratap Singh, the MP from Hoshangabad, will be vying for the Gadarwara constituency.

This second list of candidates comprises 39 nominees, including six women. Among these are five seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and ten seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The party’s first list, containing 39 names, was unveiled in August.

Party insiders have revealed that the directive for MPs and ministers to prepare for elections was issued by the party high command, even extending to Rajya Sabha members who are now primed for the electoral battleground. This strategic lineup of candidates reflects the BJP’s determination to secure a strong position in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.
