In a recent update, it appears that BJP veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi are unlikely to attend the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, scheduled for January 22. Both leaders, pivotal in the Ram temple agitation, have reportedly been requested not to attend due to their age. Advani, aged 96, and Joshi, turning 90 next month, have accepted this request.

The ceremony, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to see the participation of various political and spiritual figures, including a three-member team inviting former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and the presence of Shankaracharyas and saints.

Preparations are on track, with completion anticipated by January 15, followed by the ‘praan pratistha’ puja from January 16 to January 22. Approximately 4,000 saints and 2,200 other guests have been invited, making it a significant event in Ayodhya.

Post the consecration ceremony, a 48-day ‘mandal puja’ will commence from January 24, following ritual traditions. The temple will be open to devotees starting January 23.

Proper arrangements have been made for guest accommodations in Ayodhya, utilizing over three locations and 600 rooms provided by monasteries, temples, and households.

In related developments, Ayodhya Municipal Corporation authorities have begun preparations, including installing fiber toilets and changing rooms for devotees.
